DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY

Next only to the College Library, this Departmental Library has over 600 titles, and regularly serves students through its Lending & Reference reading sections. Run by the Society for Study of Geography since 1992.
The Library seeks promotes healthy reading culture amongst students, and with that in mind has brought many interesting novels,and short stories collections of eminent authors & of wide variety of topics. Besides its National Book Trust Collection is unmatched. 
Under the CPE Fund, it has added to its stock, some very valuable collections. Besides the NET/SLET Library provides service to students planning to appear in NET/SLET exam all round the year.
The Library was admired by the NAAC Peer Team during their visit on Dec'2011, as an 'uncommon sight' in the college as a whole !

MILESTONES IN THE DEPARTMENTS's HISTORY

The Department has a long chequred history....
1939: Starting of Commercial geography in I. Com
1971: Starting of General Geography in HS Level
1982: Starting of General Geography in Degree Level
1986: MAJOR in Geography started
1995: PG Programme under DU (Annual System)
      (Working as Parent Dept. of PG till now).A unique event in Dibrugarh Univ history

2001: PG Programme under Semester System began.
2010: Research Centre for Ph.D. Programme started.
